CBZ to EPUB Converter
Drop a .cbz (or a zip of page images) and get an EPUB with one image per page, in the right order, sized for your e-reader. Manga can be set to read right to left.
Get it on your reader
- USB. Connect the reader, open its storage and copy the .epub file into its books folder.
- Email or app. Many readers have a send-to-device email address or app that accepts EPUB. Use your reader maker’s help page for the address.
- DRM-free only. Small readers and many apps cannot open protected books. This file has no protection added.
- Next.Make it smaller, pull out the text, convert a MOBI, or read the notes for common readers.
What the converter does
- Choose the CBZ file. A plain .zip of page images works too.
- Pick the reader preset. Pages are scaled to fit that screen and are never enlarged.
- Set reading direction and spreads. Choose right to left for manga and split double-page spreads if you want them one page at a time.
- Convert and download. Copy the EPUB to your reader.
Pages are sorted in natural order, so page_2 comes before page_10. Junk files from archive tools are ignored. If the archive has a ComicInfo.xml, its title, writer, language and manga flag are used. Each page is scaled to fit inside the preset’s screen size, converted to greyscale if the preset says so, and saved as JPEG (or PNG for flat artwork). A JPEG that already fits and needs no greyscale is copied untouched.
Fixed layout or one image per page
Fixed layout (the default) tells the reader the page is a picture of a fixed size, so it shows each page whole. It is the right choice on Kobo and in most apps. One image per page is an ordinary reflowable book where each page holds one picture that is scaled to fit the screen; use it if your reader ignores fixed layout.
Right to left and double-page spreads
Manga is read from the right. Setting right to left sets the book’s page direction, so swipes and page numbers go the right way, and when a spread is split the right half comes first. The setting is picked up from ComicInfo.xml when it is there, and you can override it.
CBR and other archives
CBR files are RAR archives and CB7 files are 7-zip archives. Browsers cannot open them without a bigger decoder, so those are not supported in the browser yet; the page says so. Re-save such a file as CBZ with a comic tool and convert that.
