PDF to EPUB Converter / Pricing

Pricing

The converters are free. A scanned-book plan, which would add text recognition for scanned PDFs, is planned but not available yet. Reserving a place charges nothing.

The free converter handles text PDFs up to 400 pages and 100 MB (more pages convert their first 400), and every other converter on this site has no limit other than your device’s memory. The scanned-book plans are the only paid idea. OCR is described as coming soon on this site because it is not built: there is no date and nothing can be bought.

What “reserve” means

Pick a plan, enter your email and press a pay button. That records that you would want the plan and at what price, and puts your email on a list that is used once, to tell you when scanned-book conversion opens. Nothing is charged, no card is asked for, and nothing is unlocked. If you prefer to stay out, use the free converter; it never asks for an email.

How the paid plan would work

A scanned PDF would be uploaded for processing, read by text recognition, rebuilt into chapters and paragraphs by the same code as the free converter, and returned as an EPUB for your reader preset. Because that involves uploading the file, the privacy page would be updated first. Cost caps and the model choice are still open; the design notes are in the project’s documentation.

Questions people ask

Is the PDF to EPUB converter free?
Yes, for text PDFs up to 400 pages and 100 MB. Longer files convert their first 400 pages for free.
Can I buy the scanned book plan now?
No. OCR is not available yet. You can reserve a plan, which records your interest; nothing is charged and nothing is unlocked.
Will I be charged when I press the pay button?
No. The page tells you that scanned-book conversion is opening soon and that nothing was charged.
Why does a scanned PDF need a paid plan at all?
Text recognition is much heavier than what the free converter does. It would need a server, and a server costs money per page, so a small per-book price is the planned way to cover it.
